Svar Simpson - Sculptors

I studied Sculpture at Chelsea and Central Schools of Art from 1978 to 1982, where I discovered a multitude of materials and techniques. The alchemy and ritual of the bronze-casting process and working with traditional materials such as clay, plaster and wax still remain for me (despite technological distractions) a powerful and rewarding discipline.

Since leaving art college I have travelled extensively, researching cultures where the transformative power of objects is an integral part of their creative process and philosophical perception. I am currently developing and exploring these concepts with my recent scultpures and collaged drawings of anthropomorphic creatures, through which I endeavour to express different qualities of energy whilst materialising invisible human experience.
